Meet Shayla Malek
Founder

Writer | Facilitator | Integration Coach & Trainer

Shayla has spent over three decades on a healing journey, and for almost as long, she has known her goal was to help other people on theirs. She started Session Works as a way to share her insights and learnings and to illuminate the hidden obstacles that stop people from finding their own path.

Shayla's Story

While her professional life took her all over the world in the corporate and tech sectors, Shayla gravitated towards roles that fed her fascination with human behavior and interactions. These roles gave her in depth understanding of how people and systems ticked, along with decades of experience with facilitation, interviewing and training.

Shayla has an Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed coaching certificate and over 25 years of practice as a peer counselor and is a commended teacher. She has facilitated workshops and sharing circles, along with teaching classes in emotional intelligence, where she holds space for clients to do deep transformative emotional processing.

Since 2019 Shayla has been going through her own integration process and brings firsthand knowledge of how powerful it has been to healing her PTSD, inter-generational trauma, anxiety, dissociation and depression. Through this experience she learned not only that she had always yearned to be a writer, but also how she needed to befriend and re-integrate the parts of herself that she had previously exiled and hidden from herself and the world.

As an integration coach Shayla works with her clients to figure out what they hope to heal by doing their own journeys and what might get in the way. She prepares them to be open to parts of self that could surface in the session, and helps them process afterwards to ensure that those experiences lead to meaningful and sustained growth rather than fleeting insights.
